Soft tissue taping techniques
Myofascial taping is a technique performed by our Chiropractic practitioners that lifts and decompresses the skin to create a microscopic space between the skin and the underlying soft tissues to reduce pressure on associated pain receptors in the injured area. It can help to improve circulation and enhance lymphatic drainage to help reduce swelling and inflammation. Myofascial taping is also used to stabilize an injured area and provide a sensory/proprioceptive feedback to the patient which makes them more aware of the muscles position and movement patterns which can lead to improved posture and improved movement function.
Myofascial taping is used to alleviate pain and discomfort associated with sprains and strains, chronic injuries, headaches, tension related injuries, neck and back pain, as well as shoulder and knee and wrist injuries. It helps in the rehabilitation of injuries to promote nutrient rich blood flow to the affected areas. It also helps to train muscles to stay aligned while they heal.
